You take the pieces of the dreams that you have

It's hard to realize at what point one begins sabotaging the relationships you've worked so hard to build. Are we saying that we live every day out of fear? Or are we thinking that we just take action over selfish and morally questionable necessities? This song reminds me of loosing a loved one and then just looking back and noticing you had been expecting this for a long, long time, but when It happened you allowed yourself to be weak enough to cry and be pathetic about it. There aren't that many times you can say you have felt like screaming and shouting, but there is no force in the world that can stop you from telling your friends how sure you are of this person you are dating right now, while at the same time thinking you will be the poster child for heart break in a few months... And it's all part of giving yourself up, then taking yourself back. Cause there is no way you will get to the finish line if you don't make that trip at least once.

"lovers are losing" by Keane (new album PERFECT SYMMETRY) perfectly embodies that (how does it embody? can you TOUCH the song?!! lol). It's one of my favorite songs right now and you should have a listen to it as well.

You can start looking at things differently maybe?

Winter

You know it's 58*F outside right now? It's actually quite lovely. As my life becomes more and more warmer in this city, and the relentless loneliness that once occupied all my space goes away, the winter just seems closer and closer. With that I just keep wondering where people began to associate cold winters with lonely nights, binge eating, and all sorts of human reactions to secluded lifestyles. I mean, it does get sort of unbearable (mostly around january and february) and it does make for some nasty wind-face-cutting. (yes, i do remember you, Chicago during the winter) but all in all, it sort of makes for some beautiful scenery and some rather nice excuses to cuddle and explore the dirtier areas of sex. And isn't that just lovely? :)

-I think I should start taking this blog seriously, and not write while I'm half drunk... X_X lol

Lights on!

This is Santogold's new video. Santi White has gone through  a myriad of music related positions and ended up being a great performer. The creativity she brings to her fresh sounds (though a little comparable to M.I.A they stand on different ends of the music spectrum) is enough to interest you in her music. Her debut album is out, it has been out for a while, and it's worth a good listen to. Here's the new video, it's pretty good by the way, and so is the song...

Lyric Time! (MGMT)

I love Music. And in it's honor, I think i'll post some of my favorite Lyrics from my favorite artists...

Let's start with...

MGMT

This Brooklyn based band brings an awesome influx of sounds to their mostly rock style, and it makes for some incredible music that sometimes fall into the experimental side. Having recently watched them perform live in their Mothership Brooklyn (McCarren Pool Party) all I have to say is that maybe one day i'll end up marrying Ben VanWyngarden, (did I spell that right?) Yeah, his performance was that great...

Here's one of my favorite songs from their cd Oracular Spectacular (it's not the mp3, go find some other blog to download that from!)

THE HANDSHAKE

I just shook the handshake
I just sealed the deal
I'll try not to let them
Take everything they can steal
People always told me
Don't forget your roots
I know I can feel them underneath my leather boots

You toss all the mornings lost to the clouds and you watch it go
Your fairweather friends on a parachute binge get lost when the wind blows
The handshake's stuck on the tip of my tongue
It tastes like death but it looks like fun

I was a loner
I was just waiting by myself
When you, warped temptress
Rose to bring me happiness and wealth
Black tears, black smile, black credit cards and shoes
You can call all the people you want
But it's you who's being used

Under your black eyes, honey
Right beneath your nose
A curse on all creation
Every single thing you know
White smoke, white light, white marble on the floor
It would only take a few seconds of darkness to figure out what's in store
Little girl

You convince yourself that you want it, but you don't know
You keep trying to wash the blood from your hands, but it won't go
We're gonna keep you on the run

We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake x15

The Cheap Laugh?

I'm sorry, but as the title says this is funny as hell.
It's kind of funny how we all find comedy in real human behavior. A laugh at some hilarious stereotype here and there is something we are all guilty of, but hey, when it's funny it's funny. But then again, when should the line be drawn? As someone who considers himself an aspiring screenwriter, I think it's way easier to get a date with *Leighton Meester while living in Antartica than to write a good comedy script, (then again Judd Apatow is making it seem that much more harder, yet approachable) The thing is , I think we need to break those dated taboos and be unafraid of just plain laughing at the most stupid and simple things, cause we all know sometimes our own life is a freaking joke!

*Please don't ask me how I know her name... :)

Vicky & Cristina's Woody Allen's New Film

I am excited about Woody Allen's new film.

Not because , ( or at least not exclusively) there are two beautiful woman exploring their sexual desires for one another in the film (penelope cruz and forever graceful Scarlett Johansson) but because I simply love Woody Allen's humanistic touch surrounding difficult human complexities. Plus, most of the time someone ends up shooting someone in a passionate crime of love! (did anyone see Match Point?) It may sound redundant, but that double feel Woody Allen gives to the topics in his movies makes for some interesting yet simplistic conflict. Ok, and aside from all that crap I just said (though I do admire Allen's work) Vicky Cristina Barcelona looks like the spaniard sexual romp-fest we've all been waiting for. Still, be sure to check it out, one cannot miss a Scarlett Johansson flick , no matter how god-awful it is...(you know who you are The Nanny Diaries)

What about?

Some shit coming soon. If  I muster up enough to think what I'm writing makes sense HALF way through writing it...

Rant,

I'm staring at a standstill, unable to move and gradually declining into self-hate, or some sort of pity that one might become (later-on) suicidal about.  And searching for the truth of the matter will mostly (surely) yield into the better part of nothing. Then thing about this sort of void I find myself staring at right now is the fullness of it, and in order to not drag on and on about the obvious irony of such a feeling, well, let's just say it doesn't make for great emotional stability. I attempt to mean that I am not really sure what the fuck I'm worried about. The main part of this "phase" is comprised of confusion about actions that I have already done a kazillion of times over in my life, yet for some reason they just seem brand new. I think I know what's gonna happen, and for a certain amount of time I am correct about the coming events, but this sort of "knowledge" just vanishes at the mere sight of self-deception, which if you ask me  is the worst kind of sabotage there is. I am willing, at some point in life, to completely construct this sort of comfortable facade about what's happening, be aware of it AND live in it AT the SAME TIME. Something that just nags me about it is the fact that there is just no big secret behind it, there is nothing hidden, everything is an open book, but to myself I just dwell in the thought that maybe there is much more complex stuff where there really shouldn't be, and that makes for some rather confusing loose ends. There is a point where it will all cease, I of all people should know that I've been through hell and back (emotionally speaking) and that I could care less about pathetic emotional questionings of this kind. But then again... what is one's self without some sort of overcomplicated emotional shit?

No Hay Para Muchos

cafre.

ScarY PlaceS

I'm starting to think blogging is outdated. Ironic AND pathetic enough since it is now my first 'stab' at it. There is so much I'd like to write on so little time, and as if wanting that was not general enough I just intend it to 'flow'. Yeah, just flow. I'm not intending to take this as a medium for which I will be surprisingly discovered into my screenwriting dream job, (thanks Diablo Cody, for killing this hope for so many of us :) , nor do I want it to become something significant to outer beings looking for solace in the words of someone who might appeal to their beliefs. I'm just in it for the writing, for the rapid sound of the keyboard that makes me feel as geeky as I feel when catching that rerun of Buffy on TV, even though I own the complete series on DVD, or the unstoppable  screaming over a plot twist during an episode of 'Battlestar Galactica'. I'm in it for some of those vague but personally satisfying reasons that populate my scary life. Scary cause it's about to change. And as a firm believer that change is good, I ready myself to count down those 5 seconds hug the fear of this coming wave of change as hard as I can, and just plain breeze through it into a better or maybe harder fall in any tomorrow that is ready to greet me.

It kinda fell at the end didn't it?

This is my first post.

This blog will alternate between English and Spanish. Espanol/Ingles.
So, just bare there. :)
