Hispanic? Puertorican? what?

Yeah, I fall into one of those categories (I have also lived occasions where I am all three!) I live in New York right now, and it's all about racial diversity and what not. (Chinese people running Mexican restaurants ha!) But Im all for making fun of myself, and of course... others...

I've been following this blog for a while. It's hilarious! This is their most recent post, Funny! Especially the part with Arcade Fire...

You know what?

Hey, I like Fall Out Boy. They have funny lyrics that resonate for that specific kind of teen that learned WAY too much, WAY too fast. And had NO IDEA what the fuck to do with it all...

Yep. That's the truth right there... Wanna fight about it?

That doesn't mean i don't enjoy other music...

Cut/Copy (yes, I am addressing you gorgeous hipster who spends all his nights at Webster Hall and can't stop complaining about living in Williamsburg, Come on dude, Park Slope is not that bad, but it is kind of stuffy...)

Bon Iver- (yeah, you sentimentalist you, who cannot bear the heartache of being alone, even though no one is actually breaking your heart, you can't wait until you get the chance to break someone else's. Because you and I both know, that person came and went, now you are just having fun!)

Belanova - (Of course listening to this implies being that certain kind of "straight guy" who spends hours talking about how amazing Tiesto's music is. Even Paul Oakenfold. We all know three hours of that music is enough to just burn out and "go gay for a while" < FYI **this excludes Justice!**> I mean, save some of that music for when you start doing X and forgetting what the fuck you were doing with that "guy wearing a cardigan!". /BTW- i'm not that guy :)\)

Rocio Durcal - (I love you mom!)

Goldfrapp - ( cause I can sooo see myself being born in another time, in another country, where I would totally play this the first time I have sex. Granted, the whole time I'd be pretending to be Molly Ringwald, but whatever right?)

Tegan and Sara - (Cause, I have to admit. I'm a butch. Period.)

The Veils (just putting it out there. You know, to be different... Cause you probably don't know who the fuck they are. Wait... you do? Call me so we can make out. NOW.)

That's it... :)

(GET OFF WIKIPEDIA, I CAN SMELL IT ALL THE WAY FROM THIS TAB!)

LAURA ROSLIN IS THE SHIT...

This character is just incredible. Mary McDonnell does an amazing job at portraying the conflicted nuances of this complex woman that was thrown into the chaotic rule of a very hopeless humanity...

Care to argue?

Watch the scene in "Blood on the Scales" (episode 4x14 of Battlestar Galactica) around 34 minutes in.
In fact.
Watch the whole fracking show (yes, fracking!)

It's amazing.

And this woman deserves all the awards she can get!

You take the pieces of the dreams that you have

It's hard to realize at what point one begins sabotaging the relationships you've worked so hard to build. Are we saying that we live every day out of fear? Or are we thinking that we just take action over selfish and morally questionable necessities? This song reminds me of loosing a loved one and then just looking back and noticing you had been expecting this for a long, long time, but when It happened you allowed yourself to be weak enough to cry and be pathetic about it. There aren't that many times you can say you have felt like screaming and shouting, but there is no force in the world that can stop you from telling your friends how sure you are of this person you are dating right now, while at the same time thinking you will be the poster child for heart break in a few months... And it's all part of giving yourself up, then taking yourself back. Cause there is no way you will get to the finish line if you don't make that trip at least once.

"lovers are losing" by Keane (new album PERFECT SYMMETRY) perfectly embodies that (how does it embody? can you TOUCH the song?!! lol). It's one of my favorite songs right now and you should have a listen to it as well.

You can start looking at things differently maybe?

:)

Winter

You know it's 58*F outside right now? It's actually quite lovely. As my life becomes more and more warmer in this city, and the relentless loneliness that once occupied all my space goes away, the winter just seems closer and closer. With that I just keep wondering where people began to associate cold winters with lonely nights, binge eating, and all sorts of human reactions to secluded lifestyles. I mean, it does get sort of unbearable (mostly around january and february) and it does make for some nasty wind-face-cutting. (yes, i do remember you, Chicago during the winter) but all in all, it sort of makes for some beautiful scenery and some rather nice excuses to cuddle and explore the dirtier areas of sex. And isn't that just lovely? :)

-I think I should start taking this blog seriously, and not write while I'm half drunk... X_X lol

Lights on!

This is Santogold's new video. Santi White has gone through  a myriad of music related positions and ended up being a great performer. The creativity she brings to her fresh sounds (though a little comparable to M.I.A they stand on different ends of the music spectrum) is enough to interest you in her music. Her debut album is out, it has been out for a while, and it's worth a good listen to. Here's the new video, it's pretty good by the way, and so is the song...

Lyric Time! (MGMT)

I love Music. And in it's honor, I think i'll post some of my favorite Lyrics from my favorite artists...

Let's start with...

MGMT

This Brooklyn based band brings an awesome influx of sounds to their mostly rock style, and it makes for some incredible music that sometimes fall into the experimental side. Having recently watched them perform live in their Mothership Brooklyn (McCarren Pool Party) all I have to say is that maybe one day i'll end up marrying Ben VanWyngarden, (did I spell that right?) Yeah, his performance was that great...

Here's one of my favorite songs from their cd Oracular Spectacular (it's not the mp3, go find some other blog to download that from!)

THE HANDSHAKE

I just shook the handshake
I just sealed the deal
I'll try not to let them
Take everything they can steal
People always told me
Don't forget your roots
I know I can feel them underneath my leather boots

You toss all the mornings lost to the clouds and you watch it go
Your fairweather friends on a parachute binge get lost when the wind blows
The handshake's stuck on the tip of my tongue
It tastes like death but it looks like fun

I was a loner
I was just waiting by myself
When you, warped temptress
Rose to bring me happiness and wealth
Black tears, black smile, black credit cards and shoes
You can call all the people you want
But it's you who's being used

Under your black eyes, honey
Right beneath your nose
A curse on all creation
Every single thing you know
White smoke, white light, white marble on the floor
It would only take a few seconds of darkness to figure out what's in store
Little girl

You convince yourself that you want it, but you don't know
You keep trying to wash the blood from your hands, but it won't go
We're gonna keep you on the run

We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake under our tongue
We got the handshake x15
